Occasion/Campaign: Civil Defence Preparedness in Districts.
Report: As per the order of Directorate General Fire Service, Civil Defence & Home Guards, Civil Defence & District Administration, a mock drill was conducted by the NSS Cell of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji Govt. College, Taraori (Karnal) as part of a nation-wide Civil Defence preparedness initiative. The drill aimed to train students and faculty on following objectives:
• To access the effectiveness of air raid warning systems
• Training of civilians, students, etc on the civil defence aspects to protect themselves in times of hostile attack
• Provision of crash blackout measures
• Provision for early camouflaging
• Evacuation plans and rehearsals
The Principal Sh. Chaman Lal urged “Safety is a responsibility we all share” and encouraged all to take the drill seriously and learn valuable lesson to understand the importance of swift action, coordination, and presence of mind during unexpected situations. He emphasised on not to panic and, analyse and react calmly in the any such situation.
During the training session, Dr. Surender Raman, Vice-Principal along with Mr Dinesh Kumar and Mr Bharat Lather, Faculty of Defence Studies, thouroughly covered the aspects of air-raid warnings, first aid, emergency shelter use, and Crash blackout measures as well as Evacuation measures.
The session was concluded by Dr. Abha Narwal, NSS PO, with a vote of thanks to all and a message to work together to build a culture of safety, preparedness, and responsibility.
